When some people think of massage, they envision receiving a session at a day spa and consider it pampering - or even a frivolous use of time and money.
However, while massage can certainly be viewed as pampering, it’s actually very necessary for a healthy body!
Fitness regulars in particular should be informed of the benefits of massage for athletes and gym members. It can improve athletic performance as well as speed up the recovery process. Research has shown that in relation to exercise and athletic participation massage can:
- Reduce muscle tension
- Reduce swelling
- Increase range of motion
- Improve soft tissue function
- Decrease muscle fatigue after workouts
- Promote injury prevention
- Promote relaxation
- Enhance athletic performance
Areas of focus depend on the client and what type of exercises they are doing on a regular basis. This is why the massage therapy team is here!
So What’s Included in a Typical Session?
In a typical massage therapy session, we will provide a consultation before the treatment to figure out which areas will benefit from extra work. Again, sessions are completely tailored to the client’s needs and day-to-day workout routine (or any other special circumstances) to ensure they are providing the most benefit.
We usually recommend at least two massages per month for maintenance. Think about all the time and money you will save by preventing injury and decreasing recovery time! Have questions? Feel free to send us an email or book your consultation by visiting this link!
